MOE Bans Finger Challenge Because Too Many Students Taking MC for ‘Wrist Pain’
n the wake of half-full parade squares across the island, Chew Jin Tiah, a spokesperson from MOE, has unveiled a new directive banning students from attempting the Finger Challenge.
The Finger Challenge was popularised by Dele Alli, a mediocre football player from the notoriously sub-par Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. It sparked a worldwide craze on social media, and people are still posting their best attempts to emulate the 22-year old.
“In the past two weeks, there have been over 8000 cases of students taking medical leave on the basis of having “wrist pains”,” Mr Chew said.
“After detailed investigations by our staff, who went undercover on popular social media platforms like SnapChat and Club Penguin, we have concluded that the dangerous act of attempting the Finger Challenge is the main reason behind this epidemic,” he added.
Hansel Payne, a Primary 6 student, is one such victim.
Hansel attempted the Finger Challenge last week and fractured his wrist. Should he not recover in time, he won’t be able to sit for his PSLE examinations next month.
“Everyone was doing it, so I also decided to do it,” he recounted, with a gleeful look on his face.
His form tutor, who was accompanying him during the interview, was seen rolling her eyes.
“It’s not even that hard,” she was heard saying, before performing the challenge in one fluid motion.
